Probably halfway!

Had an epic day today partly in the encouraging company of John and Jonathan

the first climb took us up Box Hill

Views were wonderful throughout the day .. Including our lunch stop near Reigate Hill

… We made great time reaching the Harrow pub well before 3pm – venue for both my school leavers bash and poignantly a close friends wake who I did my DoE hiking with before his tragic teenage death in a car accident in the summer we left school, and right before we we’re due to travel together.

Leaving the Harrow, having said goodbye to my companions, I continued in deep contemplation (and some back/ blister pain) past my old school cross country routes and a viewpoint that had been the scene of one of my favourite early dates with Nicola.

The route took me over the Caterham bypass and on up Tandridge Hill through some amazing footpaths. I’d gone further than I hoped and was pleased to pass this viewpoint marker

Currently I’m walking the final mile into Oxted where my mum kindly waits for me… A fabulous and important day. Thanks all.
